These Subscription Terms and Conditions (“Subsription Terms”) apply to the paid digital subscription to Briefing MONTHLY (“Subscription”), a publication by Asia Society Australia (Asia Society Australasia Centre ABN 62 079 890 814) (“Asia Society”, “we”, “us” or “our”) and a microsite of AsiaSociety.org. By subscribing to Briefing MONTHLY, each subscriber (“subscriber”, “you” or “your”) agrees to be bound by and comply with the Subscription Terms below and the Asia Society website’s Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy, available at the following links:


If there is any inconsistency between these Subscription Terms and the Asia Society Terms & Conditions (together, the “Terms”), the Asia Society Terms & Conditions prevail to the extent of the inconsistency.

We may suspend or cancel your Subscription to Briefing MONTHLY if you breach the Terms or misuse the service.

These Subscription Terms are made available via our website or otherwise provided to you at the time of subscription, and maybe updated from time to time.

Any changes will take effect from the date the updated Subsription Terms are published or otherwise made available. Where a change is material and may adversely affect you, we will take responsible steps to notify you in advance.

If you do not agree to a change, you may cancel your Subscription in accordance with these Subscription Terms.


Subscription Overview

A paid Subscription provides access to full Briefing MONTHLY articles and archive materials as described on our website. Any additional or bonus content is provided at our discretion and may change from time to time. If there are different tiers of subscription for Briefing MONTHLY, your subscription gives you access to the tier for which you subscribed as described at the time of subscription.

Your Subscription is for your personal use only and you are not permitted to share your account credentials with another person or use your Subscription for any commercial purpose, including to share, transfer or on-sell your Subscription to any third party.

We are not responsible for any issues with payment, delivery, or access to Briefing MONTHLY to the extent they result from inaccurate or incomplete information provided by you.


Payment & Billing

Payment processor

We do not store your payment details. Payments are processed securely via Beehiiv and its partner Stripe on our behalf. You consent to the disclosure of your payment information to such third parties for the purpose of administering your Subscription.

Billing cycle

When you subscribe, your will be charged immediately for your first subscription period. Your Subscription will be automatically renewed for the next subscription period at the end of each billing cycle, and you will be billed the applicable subscription fee for the next subscription period unless you cancel your Subscription in accordance with these Subscription Terms before such time.

Price changes

Subscription prices are those published at the time you sign up.

If we change the price of a Subscription, the new price will apply to new subscribers only. Existing subscribers will continue to renew at the price they originally agreed to, unless they cancel their Subscription and re-subscribe at the new rate.

From time to time, we may introduce new pricing tiers or offers. Any such changes will be published on the Briefing MONTHLY website.


Cancellation & Refunds

Cancel anytime

You may cancel your Subscription at any time through your account settings. Cancellation stops future billing but does not retroactively refund past payments

Refunds

Because Subscriptions provide immediate access to digital content, we do not offer refunds for partial billing periods except where required by Australian Consumer Law (“ACL”).

Access

Your access continues until the end of your current billing cycle.


Account Responsibilities

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity under your account. We may treat any use of the Briefing MONTHLY website using your username and password as use by you or authorised by you, unless we have received written notice from you of unauthorised access.


Availabilities & Changes to Service

We aim to provide uninterrupted access to Briefing MONTHLY but do not guarantee continuous or error-free availability.

We may modify, update, or discontinue parts of the service. Any significant changes to subscription features will be communicated in advance.


Intellectual Property

All content provided through Briefing MONTHLY — including writing, graphics, videos, and design — is owned by Asia Society Australia or used with permission.

You may not reproduce, distribute, or republish any Briefing MONTHLY content without our prior written consent.


Third-party Platforms & Links

Briefing MONTHLY is delivered through the Beehiiv platform and may contain links to other websites. We have no control over and are not responsible for the content, security, or privacy practices of any third-party platform or website.

Your use of the service may also be subject to Beehiiv’s own Terms of Use.


Limitation of Liability and Disclaimers

General Disclaimers

We strive to provide a reliable service, but we do not guarantee Briefing MONTHLY content will always be delivered by a particular time on any given day, be entirely uninterrupted, secure, accurate, complete, or free of viruses or bugs, including where the availability, delivery or security of the service depends on third-party platforms or services. Briefing MONTHLY commentary is general information and should not be relied upon as professional advice.

Exclusion of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by the ACL, Asia Society Australia is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, Briefing MONTHLY, including for technical issues, unauthorised access, lost profits, consequential, incidental or indirect damages.

ACL Guarantees

Nothing in these Subscription Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any rights you have under the ACL that cannot be lawfully excluded. Our liability for any breach of a mandatory consumer guarantee is limited, at our option, to resupplying the service or paying the cost of having the service resupplied, except where the ACL requires a different remedy for a major failure.
